In order to offer development opportunities throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic for Long Track skaters who are bound for Canadian Youth Long Track Championships and Canada Cups, Ontario Speed Skating, in partnership with Speed Skating Canada and RBC Training Ground, is hosting a Long Track Technical Development opportunity. This program will consist of a video submission and a virtual follow up session with an Ontario Long Track coach.


This program runs from February 26 - March 26, 2021.

Ontario Speed Skating had 3 skaters representing Speed Skating Canada at the 2021 World Cups and World Championships in the Heerenveen bubble. After facing training setbacks due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and the closure of the Calgary Olympic Oval due to mechanical failure, we couldn't be more proud of these skaters and their outstanding results in this unprecedented season!


Their World Championships results include:

Silver - Ladies' Team Pursuit - Isabelle Weidemann, Ivanie Blondin and Valerie Maltais Silver - Men's team Pursuit - Jordan Belchos, Ted-Jan Bloemen, Connor Howe


Ivanie Blondin: Silver in Ladies' Mass Start

Isabelle Weidemann: 5th in the 3000m, 4th in the 5000m.

Jordan Belchos: 4th in Men's Mass Start, 10th in the 5000m, 8th in the 10,000m.


Ivanie, Isabelle and Jordan, we admire your perseverance this season and congratulate you on a fantastic World Cup Season and World Championships in the Heerenveen bubble!

The 2021 Ontario Coaches Conference is going virtual! The Coaches Association of Ontario has partnered with Canadian Sport Institute Ontario to offer this FREE event, which will take place March 24-31, 2021. The Conference features over 15 sessions from leading experts in sport! Coaches can earn PD points for EACH session attended!
